AIA Vitality Men's Women's Health Night Run-Johor

A week ago on 7th January 2016, we went to Johor merely because we joined the AIA vitality MWH Night Run which is held at Puteri Harbour, Johor Bahru.

It was a free registration because hubby won 2 free pass from IG contest. My 1st running event without any training, not even walking or jogging for the past 3 months,LOL!

The event can be considered as a fun one because there a lots of activities you can try out at the event site but suprisingly only few hundreds runners at this event.

Overall to me it was a smooth and enjoyable running event; ood numbers of portable toilets, enough water stations, generous goodie bag, good medal design and scenery running route as well. Not forget to mention their amazing volunteer and supporting team!

SCKLM 2016: 21KM FINISHER

Assalamualaikum..

Finally, after almost a year,  I run my 6th Half Marathon during SCKLM 2016 last week on 7th August. Hubby and I participated in this running event because organizer offered 25% discount to all participant of cancelled SCKLM2015

It was one tough 21KM for me because I barely have any proper training prior to this event. I should know better after past experience that 30min jogging is not enough and injury is unavoidable (*sigh).
I was jogging smoothly up to 14km before my left leg cramped and ITBS on my right knee caused me to walk all the way to finish line. Alhamdulillah, proud of myself to able crossed the finish line after those double injuiry because honestly, I almost gave up due to excruciating pain in my left calf.

Regarding the event itself, to me it was another well-organised event that I will put on my annual must join event from now on (InShaAllah). No wonder the event attracted lots of runner. I just hope in future they can consider to change the running singlet to running t-shirt, hehehe.

I haven't registered for any running event so far but I am eyeing another event that cancelled last year. Hopefully I have the budget to register before it closed tho.

My running activities seem bit slow this year but it doesn't mean I don't like running anymore. I still like running as much as I like yoga because this 2 activities keep me fit and healthy. It just that the fee to join those running events are too expensive nowadays.

1st Family Run: Milo Breakfast Run 2016

Assalamualaikum..

2 weeks ago, on 29th May, we (kiddos, hubby and me) participated the Milo Breakfast Run 2016 at Putrajaya. It was our 1st family run and hoping for more in future because it's fun to run with your love ones.

My daughter and my youngest son never participated in any long distance running/jogging before, so we 'trained' them to jogging/walking for 30 min, 2 week prior to this event. Their brothers already experienced long distance running during their school 'merentas desa' activity, so I was confident that they are good to go.

When we arrived at the event location, it was super-crowded with people in green shirts! It was such a sight! Kiddos were nervous, hubby was nervous and I was nervous because the kids might lost among those sea of human, hah!

3KM family run was gun off at 7.30am and we managed to reach the finish line after 45min of running and walking. We might able to finish it earlier but hubby, my eldest son and I have to take turn carrying my youngest son after he got this bleeding blister for not wearing his socks. Lesson learned; please wear socks if your shoe is brand new, ngehehe!

Regarding the event itself, I think it was a smooth, successful and merry event. The organizer should get an applause for organizing such family-friendly event where we can exercising and bonded with our family at the the same times. The volunteer/support team were superb and helpful, enough water station for all categories (including 3KM family run), generous goodies bag, free-flow of milo (bevearge), fun after run games and cute finisher medal for all. RM70 fee per family (6pax) definitely worth it!

This event is going to be in my list next year! Family yearly event it is..lol!

100PLUS OUTRUNNER NIGHT RUN 2016

Assalamualaikum..

On night of 16th April, despite of having slight fever and flu,  I participated the 100Plus Out Runner as my 2nd running event of year 2016. Since I have been hibernating from any kind of work out for almost 2 months beside not feeling well, I didn't put any target except hoping that I will able to cross safely the 15km finish line without any injuries.

I arrived at the starting point 25min early but still ended up at the back of the crowd because I have to queue up to use the toilet. Luckily I already warmed up a bit while waiting for my turn to use the toilet because the event gun off right after I managed to slip in among the huge crowd.

I was okay up until 8km when I started coughing badly and have to stop several times to catch my breathe. It not easy hokey! At 13km, I almost gave up because I feel a bit dizzy! Nasib baik sampai juga finish line, hah!

To me, overall, the event was another successful and well-organized running event; good traffic control, cheerful support/volunteer team, enough water station and appealing race kit. I personally love the white running t-shirt (by brooks) and the comely gold medal (^_*)v.

Yeah, abis juga larian 15km!
140th sound not bad ba kan.. LOL

ENGINEERS FOR MAKNA RUN 2016

Started off my running event for year 2016 by participating Engineers For MAKNA run on 17th January at University Tenaga Nasional. This event was organized by the Engineering students of Uniten to help collecting dana for MAKNA.

This event is the simplest running event I have participated so far. There are no grand start/finish point but a simple handmade banner with 'start' and 'finish' word. No bib and No timing chip. Runners must collect all 7 token (rubber band) at 7 point in order to claim a medal and certificate. Many runners whine because the organizer didn't provide bib with timing chip but to me it's okay. I like the idea of collecting token because it remind me of the old times.

Humble, handmade starting point
The 7 token :)
The run start off at 8am, bit late from the schedule (should be at 7.15am) because have to wait for the VVIP to arrive and police to stand by along the route to take care of the traffic. I managed to cross the finish line within my targeted time (below 90min). I enjoyed running and walking along the route without worrying about safety. Honestly this event is more safer than the Ice Light Up The Night Run because there were lots of volunteer and police along the route (outside Uniten area). I give the organizer 2 thumbs up for that. Finisher medal were given to all 12KM runners who able to present all 7 token at the finish line together with paper certificate. The medal is okay (at least for me) since it's made from die cast.

Lots of runners posting negative review on the organizer FB page just because the event started late and also the lack of bib (with timing chip) but I left a praising comment to them because to me they are doing a good deeds. They are students who might struggling with campus life yet they still manage to pull off such event to raise fund for MAKNA. Instead of lashing out them, we should give them room for improvement.

That's bit of the 1st running event for year 2016 and hopefully more to come, In Sha Allah..

ICE LIGHT UP THE NIGHT RUN

Just and me joined Ice Light Up The Night Run on 5th Dec at Plaza Shah Alam. This was my last running event for year 2015. I joined it just because I need a night run, plus the finisher medal is looking nice, hehehe!

With fees that I considered quite expensive for 10km run, I expected that the organizer will provided bib with timing chip but unfortunately there was no timing chip, grrrr! However I am glad that no timing chip for this run because I can accompany my running buddy; Just without thinking of my finish time. It took almost 2 hours for us to crossed the finish line since we walk most of it. Yang penting sampai & dapat medal juga kan, hehehe!

Regarding the event itself; in my opinion, the worst event I have ever joined. Don't get me wrong, since I do like the challenging routes but the lack of volunteers and police involvement to take care of the traffic that forced runners to fend for themselves at some congestive area, it can turn into nightmares. Organizer should pay attention to this matter since it involve with runner safety. The running shirt by Ultron is superb quality but I don't fancy the vibrant Orange color tho and thumbs up for the medal design!

Not much to share about this event but I am happy because at last I fulfill my promise to run/walk along with my friend. Haven't register for any future run yet but I will definitely fill year 2016 with few running events and aiming to tick off another thing- to-do from my list, ngehehe!

Fit Malaysia Run 2015

After twice disappointment over cancelled running event, my hubby and I participated in Fit Malaysia Run (Selangor) 2015 which held at Dataran Dewan MPPJ on 15th November. Well, I feel kind of compulsary joining this event since it offer medal and certififcate(paper cert) for all participant without any fee hokey! Terubat juga rindu belusiran, ngehehe!

Hubby and me was late because of closed road and parking space problem. We have to park somewhere at residency area about 1km from the starting point. Luckily 10KM was gunned off a bit late from initial proposed time i.e at 8am, 30min later than stated starting time(should be at 7.30am).

10km route was kind of challenging; hilly, narrow lane with 2 water station but overall I enjoyed the run. The morning sun was awesome and I love it. I was running and walking with average pace 12min per miles and managed to cross the finish line within my target time. I was surprised that hubby crossed finish 20min after me because unlike me, he don't like physical activities. Good job, mister!

30min later, I saw Just & Lin crossed the finish line. Sempat juga bergambar-gambar before we parted way. It's been a while kan moi, Lin...Oh ya, still have 1 last running event for 2015 with them (*smile).

Pheww!! That's all for now. It's stale draft but glad that finally able to publish it.

Zero Run Medal: BSNPNM 2015

Another event cancelled again due to worst haze condition. Frustrated? Once is okay but twice in a row?? I am totally pissed off because I am anticipated this night run since it's going to be my night run of year 2015, grrrr!

BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon should be my 7th HM but it cancelled so it doesn't count anymore (*sob). Hurmmmm, I feel reluctant to join any future running event since nowadays haze problem from Indonesia is unpredictable and getting out of control.

Collected the finisher medal and all post-race entitlement with kiddos on the night the event should be on at Place of Justice Putrajaya. It was crowded there and some were doing  5km running before collecting their medal despite of the unhealthy haze. Took some pics then hurriedly went back home.

I was hibernating and haven't doing any LSD or jogging since the haze attacked last month and honestly I miss my evening jogs while waiting my daughter. Thankfully those nasty haze can't prevent me from doing yoga and simple cardio-workout at home to stay fit and healthy.

Okay, enough ramblings! Have a great days ahead everyone!

Zero-run medal!
Wefie!

Won Without Running: SCKLM 2015

Standard Chartered KL Marathon is cancelled due to the bad and unhealthy haze problem, thank you Indonesia (*please note the sarcasm there).

To be honest, I was a little bit upset and feel awkward to get the finisher medal without running.. tapi dalam hati gembira sebab tidak payah susah-susah lari, hehehe! Actually I was upset because I thought the organizer will only postpone the event instead of cancelling it. But I understand their decision is the best for all since it involved many critical aspect.

Hopefully next year SCKLM will be held again without no issue such as haze again and hopefully I will be able to run in SCKLM next year, InShaAllah...

Although the event cancelled, gambar kenangan itu wajib hokey!! Sharing some of photo from race kit collection day & finisher medal collection day.

Peace and see you next year SCKLM!

PJ HALF MARATHON 2015 (21KM Finisher)

PJ Half Marathon 2014 was my 1st HM and I participate this event once again this year because I want to improve last year finishing time. PJ Half Marathon 2015 was held on 7th September at Laman MBPJ, Petaling Jaya. It was my 5th HM (*wink2).

We was late because some road being closed due to the event that caused us to take a quite a long detour to reach the event venue. Mister dropped me by the roadside nearby the starting point and I had to rush to find toilet because 21KM will be gun off in 20min.  I was just entering the toilet when they gun off 21KM runners at 5am and managed to sprint to the starting point 2-3 minutes later and joined the last crowd.

The route was totally different and more challenging than last year. I enjoyed the run but those impatience cars, motorcycles and buses that keep honking at us at some congest point really a killjoy. I feel so thankful towards volunteers and police traffic who controlling the traffic for us because if they weren't there, (palis-palis) memang yang tidak penyabar langgar suda tu runners semua.

I was running with slow pace at average 12min per miles and made it to the finish line after 154min; better time than my finish time during PJ Half Marathon 2014. Am I happy? Of course! For an amateur runner like me who always lack of training, finishing a HM below 3 hours, I considered myself doing a good job(^^)V...Ba, jangan kamu muntah, ayat kasi sedap hati seja ba tu, ngehehe!

Okay, regarding the event itself; I think overall it was better than last year. The route is challenging and enjoyable (minus the barking dog when passing along the residential area and those impatience cars/buses/motorcycles), punctual and suitable starting point (at least for me), good traffic control and nice running t-shirt & finisher t-shirt for 21KM.

However there were also several flaw that the organizer should take note and overcome if they want to convince runners to join this event again next year. Firstly, they should increase the number of volunteer/support team at the water stations. Pity us because some of us especially those who run with large crowd, have to serve our own water that add 2-3min to our time.

Secondly, they should be more considerate about providing wider running line for hundreds runner for I saw some runners almost got hit by car/motorcycle for accidentally ousted from the narrow line by other runners.

They also should provided e-cert with ranking and finish time for 21KM and 10KM instead of paper cert that we have to fill up the details by ourselves and they should give finisher medal and light breakfast to all category since the fee was quite expensive. Blank paper certificate is so out-dated! Running event nowadays is getting expensive year by year (*sighed).

The certificate
Beside that, the organizer should design attractive medal instead of a simple plain one because this year medal is no difference than last year except for the size. Pardon me if I am rude but the medal is so boring, hehehe! Lastly but not the least, please add up the number of toilet at the starting/finish point because I had to queue up for almost 20min and missed the gun off by 2min, grrrr!

Okay, I am finish with the review of this event and sharing here few pic of me from the event:-

RUN WITH US 2015 (12KM FINISHER)

After hibernating from running for almost 2 months, I joined Run With Us 2015 (which I registered 2 months earlier) organised by 21st Century Sport on 16th August, held at Dataran Putrajaya and gun off at 6.45am and 7pm for 12km & 5km respectively.

I have no target for this run except for crossing the finish line without any injuries because I have zero preparation/training during the hibernating period. As expected, I was struggling along the route to find my pace, pheww! Every now and then I will stop and walk because bernafas pun macam angry dragon suda plus berat betul tu kaki mo lari macam ada batu attached, ahahaha! Syukur Alhamdulillah, succeed at crossing the finish line without any injuries and got another addition to my running medal collection.

Regarding the event, I think the fee I paid for worth the whole experiences. I give 2 thumbs up to the organizer for the smooth and successful event. They provided good number of water station and medical/aid volunteer, accurate distance marker, good quality of running shirt and finisher medal and also nice snack/breakfast pack. Will join this event again in future and will also recommended this event to my friend.

Reach Out Run 2015

I joined Reach Out Run 2015 organized by IM4U 2 weeks ago and collected another finisher medal for 10KM. It was a last minute decision since I wanted to do one long slow distance before fasting month. Saya berhibernasi from any running/jogging activities during Ramadhan because I knew that my body won't tolerate fasting and doing physical activities.

It was raining all the way from starting point to the finish line but I managed to improve my 10KM PB and I was over the moon for that. Maybe it was because I am enjoying the rain as much as the run, ngehehe!  Siuk ba main hujan sekali-sekala. Rindu terus sama kampung tercinta!

This is another running event that I would give 2 thumbs up for their smooth and fun event execution despite of the cloudy and rainy day that day. They provide portable toilet, good number of  water station, effective medical team and supportive cheering team and volunteers. I personally love the running tee and have no remorse for paying RM48 since it will goes to charity. However, the finisher medal design is too common ( to me) and can be more creative.

Oh ya, they invited artists too! I recognized  Zizan Raja Lawak, Joe Flizzow, SonaOne and Aizat doing the 100meter race. Joe Flizzow was right to my eyes that day and  I wanted to take pic with him but I was too shy!! Akibatnya melepas, grrrr!

Sharing few pics from the day of the event:-

Lepas berasak-asak, dapat juga snap 1 pic at the Wall Of Fame. Can you spot my name?

Running & Yoga are 2 things that keep me fit, healthy and stress free nowadays so it will be become part of my lifestyle. I might slow down but I will never stop because I just like how this activity blend in with my life.

Until next post, have great day ahead!

Malaysia Team Fan Run 2015 (15KM Finisher)

On 31st May 2015 I joined another running event; Malaysia Team Fan Run 2015 organized by TM at Dataran Putrajaya and this time mister also participating. I registered myself for 15KM and mister joined 10KM (his 2nd). I considered it as my Kaamatan run, hehehe!

15KM gun off at 7.00am and as always I was late and behind the crowd @_@ Berangan mo kasi finish within 1 hours and 40min but I am happy finishing it below 2 hours, ngehehe!

I considered it as one of very well-organized event among running event I've participated. Lots of portable toilet at the finish/start points, accurate distance marker, good number of water stations, ambulances & medical team and vibrant cheering team, breakfast pack, free flows of milk and 100plus and also entertainments. I also love the medal design! Gonna join again next year kalau umur panjang, In Sha Allah...
